In Asia, we had many people collect and then sent those bottles for recycling to recycling center. Its become their main job and they can earn for their whole family to live. Not much, but at least that help for surviving. The picture I took in Germany in front door of Penny supermarket, recycle bottle machines. I remember my aunty asked me what is that, and instantly we try that machine by finishing our drink bottle at that spot and put it to the machines. A good experience of other culture :-D

We don't get paid for recycling bottles. If you don't sort the recyclable stuff into the correct bins before trash pickup, they just don't accept your trash.

In japan, it even difficult to find thrash bin, so usually you will need to carry your garbage back or throw it at shinkansen (bullet train) thrash collector before leave train

@Vree0937 There are trashcans here in any fast food restaurant, service station or grocery store. Most businesses will let you step into their lobby and throw away trash at their front desk, too.

@DaddyEvil Yes, I know - its common to have thrash bin every where, except in some countries. so don't be surprise. I do not want to mention others except above, as I might be blocked by some users here :-D

I wish we have more option for recycling here. I've seen videos and articles about recycling centers in other country that make me feel jealous.

Certain stores have recycling bins like that. We have a recycling bin that is picked up every other week. It’s so important to recycle.

True, in those machines, you can exchange your empty bottle with coins (real money) for contributing to keep our planet clean

I see people do that in our little town but it doesn't seem like make enough to live on. They even collect copper wire and pipes cuz they get paid more for that. I know for sure there's 2 that scavenge and go straight to the liquor store for their daily bottle of whatever they drink.

Yes, its not enough to make decent life. This machine is more to encourage people to keep their bottle clean and good, and then rewarded with coins (real money), If you have many bottles, you can get more than one Euro from that machine

@Vree0937 Are you talking about glass bottles or plastic bottles? I know around here if we rinse out and crush our aluminum cans you can make a few dollars but you have to take in quite a few of big black lawn and leaf bags to make like 5 or 10 dollars

Recycling is a good way to earn money. I've recycled aluminum cans and gotten a little cash

we don't have any machines like that anywhere around where we live. But we see people scavenging for aluminum cans and like copper wire or pipes and they must not make much cuz it seems like they're still homeless. I can't say I know any of them personally but there's a handful that you see using the money from the cans to buy a bottle of whatever at the liquor store.

I saw some people like that too here. But they exchange for food, not for liquor
