Hello to another lovely autumn day! And hello you you! And hello to another song with “someday” in the title. Here’s another song that you may not know but you won’t really be surprised to see here.
#3: Someday My Ship Will Sail - Emmylou Harris
Although I had every Emmylou Harris album for a good 15 years, I have to say I found her output pretty uneven. The things I loved, I really loved. The other albums could have a great song or two, or be downright disappointing (such as Cimarron).
To this day, my favorite albums of her remain the acoustic dynamos of Roses in the Snow and Angel Band, the latter being a collection of bluegrass and country gospel songs. (You may remember the album’s title song, performed by the Stanley Brothers, in the film O Brother, Where Art Thou.) This is from that 1987 gospel gem.
And here’s an interesting piece of trivia for you: this song’s writer, Allen Reynolds, also wrote the Vogues’ hit “Five O’Clock World.”

This ship has sailed without me I do not know this song, I always claimed when things went bad that my ship has not come in because it was the TItanic and we know how that ended

I used my favorite joke about “my ship will come in” in another reply: it came in while I was at the airport!

Not familiar to me. My ship sailed about 20 years ago.

it is interesting - when we consider the phrase my ship came in. Back, when that was often said, it was meant more to the wives of the sailors and captain. The difference between a ship coming in and not coming in was a lot of tears.

@FourWalls What a beautiful song. I sort of know of Emmylou as my dad has listened to many of her songs but I'm still not all that familiar with her but know she's got a lovely voice. Thank you for sharing!
