Trash Talk From 8 year old Leads to Broken Ankle For 52 Year Old

October 20, 2021 1:27pm CST
so yesterday my girlfriend asked me if I wanted to go to the park after her 2 girls got out of school. I said, "Sure that sounds like fun." I love her girls they're great and I have always have fun with them. So the girls were all excited to climb the 5 foot ro ck climbing wall. Her youngest is 4 and she was a little scared. She asked me to hold on to her so I did that and helped her get back down. I was wearing those tennis shoes with out the back and was glad to get down because my shoes made it slippery. I go to walk back over to my friend thinking we would talk and watch the girls play. The second I turned around to go to the bench her 8 year old asked me to climb it with her. I said honey I don't have the right shoes on and I don't want to fall. That's when the trash talking started. She was telling me I couldn't do it again because I'm an old lady. She said "you're just afraid I'll beat you to the top." I do not have any idea how 8 year old trash talk made me take on the challenge. She started climbing and I was letting her beat me to get it over with. Then it happened. My foot slipped off the rock, I only fell like 3 feet and landed on my right ankle. It started swelling up so fast my friend packed us into her car and took me to the E.R. It hurt so bad when they were trying to get the x-rays and I just thought the doc would walk in and say what I was think. A bad sprain but I was wrong I ended up breaking my ankle in 2 places. I called my boyfriend and he came to get me. He was so concerned when the doc told him about my break. My friend took her girls home while my boyfriend and I stayed behind at the E.R.The could put a cast on right away because of the swelling. Today I had to go back and get a fiberglass cast. This was when my my boyfriend asked me exactly what happened in front of the doc and the nurse. I have never been so embarrassed. I told him and the doc and nurse were smiling to. My boyfriend looked down and shook his head and told me and the doc she's super competitive but couldn't get over the fact that I let an 8 year old trash talk me into doing the wall. Now I get to wear this cast and use crutches and the doc will check me in 4 weeks. And my boyfriend isn't here to help me because he's spending the night in Lynchburg doing training with his officers. Good thing my bestie lives on the other side of the wall in this duplex. She is now laughing and trash talking me for letting an 8 year old get to me. But she's been a huge help. Moral of this story never take on a dare with a trash talking 8 year old..lol. Gonna go take a pain pill and take a nap with my foot up.

I am so sorry. I hope you are not too much in pain and they will put the cast on you tomorrow. It will be hard to be alone with a cast and crutches, take care.

The pain pills help a lot and my boyfriend has really stepped up and has helped me with everything. He doesn't really know how to cook but last night he made spaghetti. It was pretty good and he bought me a new custom chess set. So, tonight we have a date to play a game or 2'm really looking forward to it.

When she new I wasn't pretending she felt awful. She was crying when she found out I had to go to the ER.She felt even worse when she saw me in a cast and I felt bad that she was so upset. I let her draw a picture pn my cast and then she felt better

Yeah, that probably would've saved you. Oh well. At least it's not six or longer (hopefully).

I'm just happy they don't need to do surgery like they first thought they'd have to do
