Shooting or Mass Shooting?

There was a shooting in Kenosha which the media keeps calling a mass shooting. I really hate when they use this title for there headlines. Maybe it is just me but when I think of a mass shooting the first thing comes to mind is some idiot shooting up a school or a business, taking out a bunch of people. Well in this story it was 5 people shot and 3 of them dead. Is that a Mass Shooting? I mean it is 3 people dead but let me tell you a little more about the shooting. So, it was in one house, and it was all people related by choice. This was a domestic violence situation that they are calling a Mass Shooting. From what I can understand of the new report, there is a 24-year-old man, 17-year-old girl and 18-year-old man that are now dead. A 35-year-old woman and 14-year-old boy survived their wounds. As the story is told the 17- and 18-year-old were boyfriend and girlfriend. Not a lot to go one right now I guess but why would this be called a Mass Shooting just because it is more than one person shot? Or just to have a catchy headline to get more people to read the story?

Mass shooting makes it sound worse that it actually is many times. Always sad to hear of anyone dying in these shootings.

I'm with you. That is totally misrepresented. The media has written a whole new rule book these days and they cater to raising fear across our nation.
