Any day could be the last day.

My Grandma
Canada
October 24, 2021 10:37am CST
I remember the day I took this picture like it was yesterday. November 11th, 2015. Never expecting to see my grandma again 7 days later, deceased from a heart attack. That time is coming up for me soon. It will be 6 years on the 18th of November that I lost not only my Grandma, but a best friend. It was one of the hardest things I had to go through in life, and still is. But time has healed me some, some days are worse than others though. You honestly never know when someone you care about will be taken from your life. If I had known, I would of hugged her longer the last day I saw her before my aunt brought her back to her residence home. How was I to know? I guess we should always make sure to hug longer no matter what, and always tell the one you care for, you love them. Because God has his own plans, and they come unexpected. I miss her. Thank you. I tend to overuse the word I love you now when my mom or anyone else I care for goes anywhere or leaves my place. Just so they know. (Even though they already know) I also hug longer!

I hope she was happy in general at the end! I didn't get to see her as much as I wanted near the end, which is a regret I carry still today. But I was thankful I got to that day, and how happy she was to see us.

You were blessed with a lovely grandma. The photograph shows she was stylish. It's good to remember one's beloved grandma with fondness in the heart. That only means her legacy of love lives in you.

@x0MandyLynn0x Yup. That's the 'grandma' advantage - 'could go all out' and care less about the appropriateness because the discipline falls on the parents. I do love 'grandma.'

She definitely had her own style! Haha! Sometimes she liked to go all out! Was cute. I agree completely!

Aww, I do! Been a strange 6 years without her. Everything has changed with the family, that's for sure. Guess that can happen sometimes...

I guess though, that you are pleased that you took that wonderful photo, as you might have been regretting not having done so in that circumstance too.

@x0MandyLynn0x It's really annoying when precious things are lost like that. Thanks for Facebook here then. It has helped you to keep those memories alive in pictures.

@innertalks I know, I had no idea that would happen to my phone right after. I regret not saving all of them somewhere!

Very true! I had actually taken a few pictures that day, and a couple weeks later my phone messed up and I lost many of the pictures I did take that day. I only had this one and one other (along with a short video I recorded) saved from sharing it with my mom on Facebook. I'm glad I did that or all would of been gone. But you are right, I'm pleased to at least have the memory saved with a picture!

Thank you! Definitely is important. I keep that in mind all the time now. Didn't really think of that kind of stuff before her passing so much.

I know that feeling. If we only knew that it was the last time we have seen our love ones, we could have hug them tightly and said something good coming from our heart. Beautiful photo of your granny.

Right!? I guess it's just best to say what you want to say to your loved ones while they are still here, before it's too late. I wish there was things I could of said to my Grandma, but can only out loud now, and hopefully she listens. Thank you!

@thelme55 Awwww thank you for saying that. I feel she does! I think everyone has their loved one around, it's just sadly we can't see them physically anymore.
