Decluttering. I´m learning from Coral.

I have been thinking a lot about selling my house and going to a senior home.
I don´t know what is available here so I talked about this with my friends when they came. It seems that they are thinking about this too.
For the moment, I´m giving away some of the things I love to the people I love that want them. And yesterday I gave two crocheted quilts made by myself to Dixie, to take to the mountains.
I am not giving anything that my daughters might like. I ask them first. But in this case both of them said no.
I am reaching a time in my life when I need to get rid of good things I don´t need any longer.
How about you?

I have never thought of that yet. But when i retire someday, i would prefer to live with my son and I’m sure he would want me in his home. The thing with our culture is that our children never become emancipated. Families live together till we stop breathing.

@marguicha yeah i can understand that. If my parents were alive, i would want to live with them. Spend every single day with them. My father would have loved it.

@marguicha yes, as I grow older I realize that I cannot keep all things even if I like them because I prefer a clean and clutter-free house.

I know your friends will appreciate your gifts to them. It will be even more special to them knowing that you made them.

Dixie was very happy. This morning I went to the second floor to see if they had left it behind them and they were no longer at ny house

My husband remains to be a pack rat. Getting him to get rid of anything is almost like pulling teeth. However, when push comes to shove he can should he need to.

At my age (76) there are lots of things that I no longer need. Specially with the pandemia, I invite a couple or 2 at the most. I don´t need lots of dishes, pots or blankets. So many of my things are going to other places.

It is always good to do some decluttering and nice that you could pass on some things that others can use, Ever since I moved back to the US I don't have very much stuff,

I was not happy when I offered my quilts to my daughters and they did not accept them. So when Dixie was so happy with it, I was happy too.

I have been downsizing for years in anticipation of going into a senior home; but we still have a ton of stuff.
