Does eating raw garlic create immunity?

October 26, 2021 8:44pm CST
Many people in India eat raw garlic in the morning. Garlic is used in the different curries in Bengal and other parts of India as well. Many people think that it creates resistance against cough and cold. Does eating garlic really create immunity?

Have you ever read about the Delany sisters, who lived in the New York area? They were civil rights pioneers, taught school, were very smart. They wrote at least one book about their lives, the one I remember is Having Our Say. Every single day, when they woke up, they chopped up several fresh garlic cloves and each ate a raw spoonful. One lived to be nearly 110, the other I think lived to be 104. So there very well may be truth to the theory that garlic is good for you.

Yes using garlic in cooking and eating raw ( with water perhaps) does helps in boosting immunity. However by itself, it can just provide additional immunity and cannot substitute everything.

@sathviksouvik One word of caution : Garlic in a bigger quantity can cause Bloating and gas in the stomach and even headache so limited quantity at a time.

I don't like the raw smell, but if putting it in curry or any special taste gravy, then it'll be nice. I heard a lot of people saying garlic drink is good so yeah.

I heard Ayurvedic practitioners say so, but I am skeptical about how much immunity boosting it can really do. Well, you're are better off than me about opining about it as you are a doctor.
