Grinding stone

We got rid of our electric grinder as the 'masala' used to heat up. Same story with our liquidiser which we rarely use - mostly for making juice but not for grinding. Most of our masalas have coconut and coconut does not grind in the liquidiser. It was a gift from my husband's grand mothere. So back to the good old grinding stone. Ofcourse the maid does it and she is good at it. We normally grind the malsala that lasts for a month as we freeze it. We also use it for grinding rice and other stuff that we need to make snacks.

Nothing tastes better than one grinded on these stones. I should get one for my kitchen. My mom still uses them and her green chutney tastes so much better than that of mine with the same recipe.

@allknowing I have used it a few times. It's a lot of muscle work. A good substitute for my arms exercises that I do with resistance band and weights.

There is a huge difference in taste. Being able to use the grinding stone with help these days is a luxury I could say

Traditional things are one of the best. The problem is of Time crunch or time planning at times, or both!

We often used the grinding stone over here too. Spices grinded using the grinding stone have a unique taste. They add more flavours to food

Some of the old ways of doing things are still the best.

If you have someone to do that nothing like it as grinding is quite strenuous

The good old grinding stones grind better than the electronic thing! And the taste of the masala is better too.
