The former Genesis frontman was making significant contributions to music by the time the band he helped found became a three-piece outfit and a “star vehicle” for Phil Collins. The success in the U.S. sort of pushed Gabriel into the background, but it’s all good. Genesis is in the Rock and. Roll Hall of Fame, and Gabriel got a second induction as a solo artist.
