We Had to Cancel Our Cruise

I am so sad and depressed right now.
My husband and I had a 13-day cruise booked on Princess Cruises, leaving from Southampton, England today, and traveling to the Azores, Antigua, and St. Marten. We haven't been on a cruise for almost 3 years due to Covid. And we love to cruise.
We got on a plane in Atlanta, GA last night, and after 3 hours of sitting on the plane, the flight was canceled due to a fuel line issue.
The next flight that would get us to England is tonight, but the cruise ship left the dock this afternoon, so basically, we missed the boat!
The airport got us home at 3:30 am. And we are very sad today. Have you ever missed a cruise because of something beyond your control?

That is really a very disappointing experience but come to think of it, could be a blessing in disguise. I do believe things happen for a reason.

@Kouponkaren And usually, when our good God says no to one things, He gives something better or greater. Wait for it.

Yes, me to, although at the time it is still hard to accept.

@eileenleyva Well, we might have found it. I just posted about a new cruise we found, and it's even this month!

Oh, that is such a disappointment! We've canceled two cruises because of Covid, but hoping to go maybe in the spring. Sure hope you'll get to go soon.

Thanks. We have had 3 canceled due to Covid. We are trying to re-book this one. Won't know if we can until Monday.

I have been on cruises where the ship was delayed for other things. I use to work on cruise ships and was on one time when we had to search the waters off the New England coast looking for bodies after a plane crash. That was the worst trip ever and saddest. We saw many things floating in the water and even a few kids toys and stuffed animals.
As an employee of the cruise line we had to be ready for any emergencies.

@Kouponkaren I worked in the beauty salon and did hair and nails. It was a lot of fun but sometimes very tiring. We worked from 8am to 9pm if the customers needed us. After a few days on my first trip, the other hairdressers and myself made a schedule and worked different times as long as the shop was slow.
When there were things going on, like the captains dinner, etc, we all worked the whole day.
I traveled to so many places and many places I never heard of. It was great and I saw so many great places. I actually met my long time pen pal that I had since I was 12 years old. She lives in England and one trip we docked there. She picked me up at the pier and took me to her home until the next day.
I could never afford in my life to go to the places I went to.
Ask me anything you want and I will be happy to answer.

That does sound sad, but I would love to hear more about your experiences as a cruise ship employee. What was your position?
