Rivers in the Sky

Western Oregon, where I live, is under a warning for floods and many road problems for the next day or two. This prediction is due to what weather people are calling an "Atmospheric River." That is a sort of new name given to long narrow systems that carry large amounts of water and tend to sit still and dump it sort of all at once.
Other areas of the US (and the world) have had unusual flooding this year, and Oregon has been known forever as one of the rainiest places in the US. So, I don't expect any big problems to result from this storm. I do hope it snows in the mountains though.
I heard a report just now about cars stalled trying to drive through too deep water on a freeway offramp in Portland, Oregon though,
I think I'll go do my grocery shopping this morning.

We have none so far, but the breeze is coming up and there some big dark clouds. I bought plenty of good things to eat.

It is a little odd. We have clouds, but no rain or wind yet. There is plenty of both two hours north, where my daughter lives.

I hope the flooding doesn't get too awful. You are smart to avoid the rains. Rain gets really bad in Richmond. An inch or two of rain can produce big problems. I was outside of a mall once..NW of the city (higher ground) and it rained hard for about 45 minutes. The parking lot had rain up to the tops of my shoes.

We have two large rivers in my city, but I don't really expect problems. We have already had rain for several days.

@jameshxstatic I hear Oregon is almost as wet as Ireland. We seem always to be under a sky river but I love it. Just love the rain.

So do I for the most part. I moved here from southern California many years ago and the rain doesn't bother me. It is said that Oregonians grow web feet. The University of Oregon teams are the Ducks.
