Fort Smith firefighters and paramedics did a superb job on Thursday morning to save a litter of puppies from passing away in a house fire that was likely caused by heating lamps in the back pouch used to keep chickens warm.
The house that caught fire was a two story home. The puppies were located on the second floor where there was thick smoke. The firefighters managed not only to put out the fire but also save the puppies from passing away.
The paramedics gave the puppies oxygen from their equipment so that the puppies would recover from the smoke inhalation.
Since the owners of the home were away, no one was injured. The house suffered some damage but it is not going to be torn down.
