Elaine's Christmas Present

This is a diamond painting that took me almost a year to finish. Harley Quin is a character that my friend really loves. I had to do it twice. I only had a small way to go with the first try and my dog knocked all the diamonds to the floor so I couldn't finish. So I ordered a second one and kept it out of the dog's way and now it's finished. It's not framed yet but I'm proud of it because it's the first one I finished. I'm gonna take it to Michaels craft store and have it framed there so I don't have to do it a third time.

This is wonderful, well done. I tried one once, gave up half way through. You've tempted me to pick it back up thought. I think my working conditions put me off as it gave me terrible back and neck ache, I don't think I was sitting correctly!

I have a cheap little drafting table type desk and it makes it much easier on my neck and back. I just tilt it up a little bit and it's more comfortable. Before I got the desk I would put the picture on a thin board and set it on my ottoman and sat in a regular chair. That wasn't too bad but when I got the little desk it was a big difference and I could actually speed up my work. I think I paid like $50 at WalMart.

@WomanWarrior1969 I wish I had the space for a little desk! Living arrangements aren't ideal at the moment but I will definitely invest in one when possible. Mine was a custom one, wasn't too expensive but was a photo of my mothers dog. I have an urge to finish it now!

@WomanWarrior1969 I started mine during chemotherapy too! I also tried 400 different crafts in that time too, haha. I can never stick to anything!

Probably a good idea. That does sound time consuming to do one of those. I'm sure she'll love it.

I think she will like it. She knows how much time it took me and she got all teared up and said "I can't believe you did so much work for me." I haven't allowed her to see it finished cuz I wanna wait until it's all framed and have her wait until Christmas

It's a grid printed on a sticky fabric. You stick each diamond on in the relevant spot. A bit like a paint by numbers. Very therapeutic!

Yes the bigger ones do take a ton of time. But they say the bigger the picture the better the details and I think it's definitely worth all the time and work. It's very relaxing too. Now I'm working on Van Gogh's Starry Night and it's the same size. I'm almost half way done.
