I do like the common names of this 'euphorbia milii.' It is so sacred to call it the 'Christ thorn.' It is also called the 'crown of thorns.' I saw this when I went to a nearby bank and they were planted into small pots by a seller. Thus, they are bonsai-type. I did not buy one or two because my mom has her belief that plants with thorns are unlucky to be placed in the house. If I am not mistaken, they were so popular in my country before.
Are you fond of this plant?

I've never seen or heard of that one before... I'm not fond of plants with thorns in the house. I do like roses outside the house, though. That is a pretty plant.

I am not sure why my mom does not like them. She used to have the bigger ones before. As for me, I like yellow roses, which are called buttercup roses. I am not sure if black roses do exist. I had searched before that they are abundant in Turkey. I do like black roses, too.

@DaddyEvil They do exist then. I think you are lucky to have this breed of rose.

@Shavkat I used to grow miniature "black roses". There were actually a deep purple color. Still very pretty, though.

@RebeccasFarm By this time, you were able to know it. I guess I am glad that it was shared here then.

I remember that plant. My front door neighbor has pots and pots of different colors of that flower. She asked me why I don't have such a plant. I said I couldn't be pricked tending thorny plants. She kept quiet.
I didn't know the plant was called 'crown of thorns.' So that must be the reason the plant became popular. Aside from the pretty flowers, of course.
Sigh! That only means people are superstitious. Your mom's reasoning is better.
I do away with thorny ornamentals. I have calamansi in my backyard. It's citrus, not ornament.

In fact, she had some of them in our old house before.
Perhaps she is not into these plants due to being tired of raising them from scratch.
