Do you think crying for men makes them less manly? Why?

For me, crying may appear weak, but it takes more courage for a man to cry than to hold it in. In our society, boys are always told "Don't cry, you're a big man now," and it gives the impression to the kid that crying is not manly. What are your thoughts on this?

Crying is an expression. People should not be judged for crying whatever gender they may have

@Jenaisle yes, and to men crying is not a weakness but strength because they do not hide that they are human and can be hurt too

I don't really think crying will make a man look weak. Crying is a normal emotion.

Yes, and I found out that tears can help excrete the toxic waste from our body, that's why we feel better after a good cry.

In many societies men and boys are told it's not "manly" to cry. They are told to keep all their feelings bottled up inside themselves. Is it any wonder that we have men who go on rampages when they can't keep their feelings bottled up inside themselves anymore? When women taunt them for their insecurities? I believe some of that censorship is being removed from some societies in the last few decades... It's far too late for many men, but there is light at the end of the tunnel for many boys, at least. Men need to be encouraged to show all their emotions, just like women. It doesn't make them "weak". It makes them human. Years ago, I wrote a discussion on myLot that you might be interested in reading. If you aren't interested, that's fine, but I'll still post the link to it here, if you choose to read it and the subsequent responses and comments below the discussion starter.
I opened the door and stared in disbelief! All I could do was look at the obvious signs of violence done to the old and fragile body. What should have been...

I see, I agree with all your points. Thanks for sharing the link, I will surely go over it. What you asked: "Is it any wonder that we have men who go on rampages when they can't keep their feelings bottled up inside themselves anymore?" is a good queston to put out there. So, hopefully, people will realize this.

@Jenaisle I wish I had a way to get the question to a large part of the population here. As it is, only a few people on myLot will notice I asked it and you may well be the only one to say anything about it. *shrug*

Man or woman, we're all humans, and humans cry. I hate that society push us to raise boys and girls differently.

Right, rather than bottling your emotions, you should be allowed to express them non-violently.
