Staying power.

Falling in love is one thing, staying in love is something else. The first part is easy enough, so easy that we use the word "fall". It does not take much planning to fall into anything.
Perhaps that is why almost everybody "falls in love".
A marriage or a love relationship needs a lot of staying power to last a long time. It rests on the degree of maturity of both partners. It is born after years of inner growth. It calls for a solid emotional make up.

Matchmaking love is the best. They sometimes last for a decade and more.

@Junbals I feel like the traditional matchmaking love match between families like some of our great grandparents' times sometimes have more lasting love than modern couples.

I think you are wise.
The better we know someone the more we come to know their imperfections (we all have them) and certain things irritate us. We must keep communicating with each other in a clear fashion

We have been married for 50 years but perhaps we just got lucky.
