Working on Thanksgiving

Good morning! It's 1021am in my world here in Minneapolis, MN and I thought I would check in. I am working from 10am to 8pm on this Thanksgiving day (for those of us in the United States) - not a terrible shift - but I do miss any festivities with family or friends. I do wish I could spend one Thanksgiving with my dad - who is alone or usually going to the bar alone - it would be super nice to spend the day with him. But, my job gives holidays off based on seniority. I should be lucky I get done with work before 2am, I suppose.
I was having a real bad week earlier this week with some sudden back pain that came on, but it seems like it is tapering off and starting to feel a little better.
Work is generally a lot slower on Thanksgiving (I have worked the last 8 years worth of Thanskgivings!) and it's easy money, but still sad to be stuck at work. But me and co-workers are doing pot lucks throughout the day - I am bringing green bean casserole and pasta salad. Needless to say - no diet today.
Things I am thankful for: a steady income, a couple of jobs, family, friends, health, the roof over my head, my freedom, this amazing scented bath and body works body wash I bought that smells fantastic - LOL!
Anyone else stuck working and unable to celebrate Thanksgiving? What are your hours and are you doing anything special at work for it?
Happy Thanksgiving all!

Oh, I had my days of working on Thanksgiving. I hope you’re done quickly and get to enjoy the rest of the day.
And I hope you get lots of extra holiday pay in your paycheck for this!!!!!

It's a shame you feel like you're missing out but at least you're not the only one, hope you and your co-workers can have a good time together anyway! And if your Dad is alone and you would like to spend a day with him, could you just have a special day with him another time?
