People are losing their minds of Kamala Harris' purchase of cookware

Kamala Harris was recently in Paris and stopped into a famous culinary supply store. She purchased a copper pot and copper saucepan which wound up costing her $580. Copper cookware is known to be very expensive but also superior to other types of pots and pans. So of course the vice president's critics are jumping all over her purchase saying that she is insensitive to regular Americans who are dealing with crazy inflation these days. I don't understand it. If she wants it and can afford it then why have an issue with the purchase? The French brand Le Creuset is getting attention these days because the cookware was incorrectly labeled as being from that brand. I have written before about my collection of Le Creuset and my love of it. My ex bought me a 7 quart beautiful blue enameled cast iron Dutch oven several years ago for Christmas. It cost $350 at the time. I just looked it up and the current price is $410. I have to say that I would buy it again in a heartbeat at that price. It is one of my absolute favorite things in the kitchen. As it says in this article someone said "There are many other reasons to dislike Harris. This ain’t one." Personally I like Kamala Harris but I know others don't. I just don't get the outrage over buying a pot and a pan.

For many years I had wanted to have a really good Dutch oven and never had the money. A few years ago, when I was already a widow, I commented to one of my friend about this but of course without hinting anything. She got together a couple of my friends and the awesome Dutch oven is here since one of my birthdays. Humberto, one of the sponsors, was the first to cook in it. I think that if a middle class woman can buy such things, so can the vicepresident of the US.

@NJChicaa Here, after Pinochet took over, the dictator started talking in the news that the so called socialist President (Allende) had Chivas Regal Scotch to invite the authorities of other countries. I found it disgusting to say the least. I have drunk Chivas Regal and I am a nobody. Not that I prefer it. My favorite is bourbon (Jack Daniels). And between you and me, JD is quite expensive here too. But I deserve it.

Middle class people buy Kitchenaid products which cost upwards of $300. Who cares? She works hard and obviously likes to cook. People will spend outrageous amounts of money on things they enjoy. I did do a delivery for someone on Shipt where they spent $280 on a Kitchenaid Stand Mixer, and I was pretty shocked at the sticker price - but figured, they probably only need to buy ONE in a lifetime and must really enjoy cooking or baking!

@NJChicaa And honestly, you'll probably never have to buy another one. I have a mixer that is from the 80's that my mom gave me...These things last forever! Now I personally wouldn't spend $300 on a product like that, but I would spend $300 on things that I enjoy - trips, outings, clothing, etc.

@maezee I'm not into home furnishings. Most of my furniture has been given to me. Things like pictures, throw pillows, hand towels, fancy glassware, pots for plants, etc. have been given to me. Cookbooks, kitchen stuff, candles, and bath bombs are what I am interested in buying. I like the best kitchen stuff that is out there. One of these days I'll invest in a Vitamix blender.

He gave me a KitchenAid 6 quart Professional stand mixer for my birthday one year. Pretty much same price as the Dutch oven. Another favorite in the kitchen.

They cant think of anything useful to say against her. So they attack that. Remember the fit they had over how Jill Biden was dressed one time.

I am not upset that someone with the cash can afford better things. If she made a big deal talking about it, it would be one thing; but to condemn her for buying quality items...it makes no sense.
