A budding cook

I noticed when my granddaughter was very young that she showed an interest in cooking. As she got older she would be able to do simple dishes with supervision and now, at the age of 15, she is becoming a great little cook. In British schools they have cooking lessons and this week she baked a Mediterranean flan which was delicious and cooked to perfection. She didn't like it so I got to eat it all. I'm looking forward to her next dish!

I remember that we had cooking classes, but we did not cook, that was a mistake, they showed us how to cook. It was more boring when they showed us how to clean the house, do laundry and to iron.

@LadyDuck I don't like ironing but I do like vacuuming since I bought a light cordless vacuum cleaner. It is bliss to use and sometimes I use it even when I don't need to

They are not bad skills though. I wish someone would teach Teagan how to clean up after herself as she doesn't listen to me!

@sprite1950 I like to iron, this is something that I always liked to do. I do not like to wash floors or to dust furniture.

I wish someone would have taught me how to cook when I was in school. I'm a horrible cook now. Do you think I could borrow Teagan for a while to cook for me? And maybe try to teach me how to cook? I don't like flan though, so tell her she would have to forego cooking that in the future. haha

She would be happy not to cook flan as she doesn't like it either. I think she would love a holiday in Florida so she would be happy to come but I don't think her time would be spent indoors cooking, it would be in Disney World

It's so nice your granddaughter found her hobby in cooking. That's useful, rewarding and has potential for a career. That flan looks good. You must be very proud of her.

She is a good cook but at the moment I am not proud of her as she was rude to my friend. I am going to make her apologise when we see him next.

@sabtraversa Well she's 15. They know everything at that age and the rest of the world is out of step

It had red pepper and cherry tomatoes in it so I expect it was one or the other.
