My kids are crying for their dog

This was a sad day for the family because my kids' dog was ran over by a big truck and had died instantly. We previously have two dogs named oreo and milky. This morning when my son opened the door, the two dogs ran out and the kids went after them. But one of them went into the main road and was ran over. My kids are all crying for their dog, and I shed a tear as well. But I kept telling them that oreo is already in heaven playing with other dogs. (I'm not sure if animals have souls but I said it anyway.) After several minutes the little one was comforted but the oldest is still crying. Perhaps, she did not believe that the dog's soul is in heaven, The eldest did not stop until she had found the other dog, milky, wandering around in the neighborhood. It took her all morning to find milky. Your thoughts?
