The health workers are on strike here

The doctors and nurses are on strike this week. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware since I missed their meeting on Saturday as I had visited my grandma at the countryside who was sick. Yesterday, I returned to work ,only finding a few of my colleagues at work; but I wasn't aware of the current situation. It is worse today as the number of patients have increased here and we are only three personnels to attend to them. I don't support this issue of medical workers going on strike and leaving sick people dying helplessly. They are striking because the government refused to implement what it agreed to provide for the health workers in the 2020/2021 national budget. They have forgotten that the invasion of covid 19 affected the economy of the whole world, now it is quite not easy to increase their salaries. The government promised to increase the doctors salaries from ug shs.2million to shs 20million. However, it proposed that it would be possible next year in the 2022/2023 financial year. But the health workers have refused to accept it, that the government has left the health sector unattended for a long period, while the other sectors like judiciary are enjoying all the prevailages. One doctor asked," are lawyers and judges who attend to criminals more important that doctors?" But my two colleagues and I I will never leave patients to die because of money, we shall continue to work even if the others are striking. Have the health workers ever went on striking there?

I admire your determination to stay and help patients and not strike with the others. It's a very sad world with the pandemic still causing so many problems. Stay safe

That's noble of you. Patients would be so thankful that you stayed behind even then. I hope the government would also look into the complaints. Hoping for the best.

Yeah, on the other side the government is wrong, it has promised to increase our salaries for the last five years
