We’re halfway through this cruise around songs with “island” in the title, a salute to @JoyDorsey and her frequent cruises. Today’s tune wasn’t a hit, and you might be a little surprised to see this above an Elton John song. I have to surprise you sometime!
#6: Living on the Island - Chris de Burgh
Well, wouldn’t this just make you pay the ferryman? Or even fix a price???
Yes, this is on the album that featured de Burgh’s “breakthrough” song “Don’t Pay the Ferryman.” In fact, it’s the song right after that tune on the album (not that I ever had the album or anything
). I guess if the ferryman gets you to the island you can pay him, and then enjoy life!
So enjoy this little-known tune that has a little touch of Buffett and Rafferty, and is all Chris deBurgh.

Yeah, that’s the song everyone remembers him for. I like it, too. It’s one of those that gets glued to your brain when you hear it once.
