Well done. A jury has convicted Jussie Smollett of five charges of felony disorderly conduct for lying to police and trying to pull off a fake hoax in 2019.
Such a crazy story and lies he tried to pull off.
Many ran to his side when this fake story happened nearly three years ago. Biden, Harris, Cory Booker, Al Sharpton, Buttigieg, and many more said this was a case of a "modern day lynching and hate". And "cannot be tolerated". Whatever!
A prosecutor said Thursday's verdict was "a resounding message by the jury that Mr. Smollett did exactly what we said he did" — recruit two brothers to fake an attack so it could be recorded by a surveillance camera and posted on social media for publicity.
Not only did Mr. Smollett lie to the police and wreak havoc here in the city for weeks on end for no reason whatsoever, but then he compounded the problem by lying under oath to a jury," special prosecutor Dan Webb said after Thursday's verdict.
Smollett, who is Black and gay, maintained throughout the nearly three-year legal battle that he was attacked in downtown Chicago in January 2019 by people (he actually paid these people) who yelled racist and anti-gay slurs and put a noose around his neck.
Two Nigerian brothers were paid to try to pull off this scheme. Olabingo Osundairo’s testimony echoed the account his brother, Abimbola Osundairo, gave on the witness stand a day earlier, including that Smollett wanted the brothers to douse him with gasoline and put a noose around his neck.
They opted to pour bleach on Smollett, Osundairo said, because he wasn’t comfortable using gasoline. He said Smollett wanted his brother to do the punching, and that it should look like he fought back.
The brothers testified that Smollett paid them $3,500 for the hoax and gave them lines to yell, including about "MAGA country," an apparent reference to then-President Trump’s "Make America Great Again" slogan.
You cannot make this stuff up. Of course he probably will never go to prison but at least the truth came out.
"Empire" actor Jussie Smollett was found guilty on five charges of staging a hate crime and lying to police on Thursday raising questions as to whether or not several high-profile political figures would offer apologies or attempt to clarify their public d

“You cannot make this stuff up.” But he did!
I do hope he gets prison time for it, and I hope the next time we see him he’s flipping burgers in McDonald’s. Things like this make a lot of people insensitive to real attacks, just like the women who falsely accuse men of rape.

@CarolDM — yeah, somehow or the other all the people who supported him (like the Tawana Brawley case…gee, wonder if Al Sharpton realizes that his “fame” is based on people lying?) will make HIM out to be the victim of something or the other (e.g., “he did this because he’s been stereotyped in the roles he’s been given”).

He should go to prison and repay every dollar that was wasted on this lie.

Don't we have enough problems in this country without someone making up crap like this? I hope he gets jail time.
