Belly rub!

So, it has been over a decade since I had a cat who really accepted a belly rub. I, personally, love to give belly rubs and since Scamp died in 2011 I haven't had a cat who really liked them. So, today I reached over to kind of tease the kitten, and got my hand under her and started giving her a belly skritch. She didn't walk away. She didn't attack my hand. She kind of moved so I got more belly but also kind of tried to kick my hand away. Not hard to kick me away. I kept going with the rub and she reached down and kind of nibbled at my fingers, but not hard - she's really good about not biting hard. She finally got up and moved, but then came over on the desk for a minute. I may be able to convert her to really liking belly rubs!

The cat I adopted sometimes like, but I must be careful, this is a delicate part of a cat.

It is a delicate part of the kitties, but I'm careful.

@LadyDuck cool! Scamp used to throw himself on his back and want his tummy absolutely scrubbed hard, for such scaredy cat he liked it rough.

@ElicBxn I am very careful and Gevi (my cat) seems to appreciate.

I heard some cats don't enjoy belly rubs because that's the most sensitive part of their body. They are very protective of it.

Yeah, Scamp loved belly rubs. Oliver and Opal, our bottle babies, hate to have anything touch their tummies.

@Babino oh yeah, cats are like people, dogs, horses and probably everything else with their own personalities.

Hi ya Oceie! For a long time I wasn't able to respond to discussions, or more like I wasn't able to respond to the responses. I'm not doing too badly, all things considered.

I'm glad to hear you have a new potential belly run partner. Kitty rolls on her Back when I get home from work, but once I get to her, she offers her butt and neck, so that's where she gets her purr rubs.

Oh, yeah, most cats don't prefer the belly stuff, but if you can introduce them to it gently and non-threateningly then some will accept it.
