English is a strange language

Why do we say: "Get the door" when all you want the person to do is to open the door? "Take your seats", when you want people to sit down "eggplant" when the plant's fruit is not even shaped like an egg. These are a few examples why I find the English language strange. If I'm from a non-English speaking country learning the language, it would be doubly hard to do so. Your thoughts on this?

I'm a native English-speaking person, having lived my entire life in the state of Florida. I can tell you, while I speak the language flawlessly, the fact it's a mix of diverse cultures can be quite annoying. And, we tend to come up with our own rules when it comes to grammar.

Yes, and what;s also confusing, is that sometimes, there are exceptions to the rules. like : You should say Pete blesses ..... but not God blesses- but God bless, instead.

What i find really interesting is how English is easy to learn compared to other languages. It's so weird.
