It is never my intention to deliberately make someone upset or angry with a post. Having said this, today’s entry into the world of my favorite covers of Bob Dylan songs is bound to make a certain Dylan fan very angry. I’m sorry. But I love this song. And here it is. #6: Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright - The Wonder Who? This is definitely one of Dylan’s most covered songs. Peter, Paul, and Mary had a hit with it. Elvis covered it. Heck, even Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings brought versions of the song to the country world. Then there’s this. Every now and then a joke becomes a big hit. I’m sure you’ve heard how Elvis didn’t want to record “Blue Christmas,” so he had the background singers do those exaggerated background vocals….and it became one of the definitive versions of the holiday classic. Or the Diamonds, who did a mocking version of “Little Darling,” and had a massive hit with it. So, the story goes, there was some frustration in the studio during a Four Seasons recording session. To ease the tension, the band did this popular Dylan tune, with Frankie Valli doing a falsetto so high that it almost sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks. They liked the recording, so their record label released it as a one-off single under the pseudonym “The Wonder Who?” And it became a hit, reaching the top 20 and selling over a million copies. I’ve never read what Dylan thought of this version, but I’m pretty sure he was happy with the royalty checks. Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright Written by Bob Dylan Recorded by The Wonder Who? Released as a single, 1965 We never did too much talking anyway:

Dylan first released it as a single, then Peter, Paul, and Mary had a hit with it. While this Four Seasons send-up wasn't really meant to be anything other than a joke, it was a top 20 hit, too!

The Four Seasons was one of my earliest favorites. So I have always liked this version. It's cute and fun. My mother got a kick out of it as well, and she was a huge Peter, Paul and Mary fan.

I know the song but not this version. I didn't think ANYONE could sing that high. :-)
