Ah, now my ulterior motive comes into play! Yes, I really am doing this countdown that presents the original versions of songs that Jimmy Buffett has covered for @NJChicaa , who’s our biggest Parrothead here. Heck, I love Buffett too! But lookie who I get to present by doing this countdown….. #6: Window on the World - John Hiatt Hi, John! NJ Chic may (or may not) know that Buffett frequently does a Hiatt song, “The Tiki Bar is Open,” in concerts. (Well, she knows he does the song, she just probably doesn’t know it’s a Hiatt tune. ) Buffett comes quite close to replicating Hiatt’s sound in his cover. That could be because Sonny Landreth played guitar on both Hiatt’s original and Buffett’s cover. One thing I love about Linda Ronstadt is her remarkable taste in songs to cover. Ditto Jimmy Buffett.
