Our Christmas Tree is Up

We put our Christmas tree up yesterday, which was Saturday, December 11th. It was a bit late for us this year, because we got back from the cruise and spent the first few days of December unpacking and getting back into our routine instead of decorating for Christmas. My husband has always been one for putting up lots of colored balls on the Christmas tree that have no meaning to us, along with the personal ones we have collected over the years. I prefer putting on mostly the ones that have meaning for us, like the ornaments we have picked up during our travels. There are also a few handmade ones on the tree that I have made over the years. This year he agreed with me and we have mostly personal ornaments on the tree. It is less gaudy, but extra special. Is your Christmas tree up yet, and what type of decorations do you put on your Christmas tree?

Glad to know about it. It must be looking very beautiful and enhances the decor of home. No we don't keep Christmas tree at home as I am a parsi by religion

@Rashnag I have heard about the Parsi religion. From my understanding, you can't become a Parsi. You are either are one or you're not. Is that correct?

We bought a living tree and it's only small. The branches won't support much weight so we have mostly tinsel on it.

@Kouponkaren Perhaps it is like Charlie Brown's tree. We will keep it in a pot for a year or two hopefully.

Will you plant it out in your yard after Christmas? Is it like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree?

@JudyEv I was just kidding about the Charlie Brown tree. Maybe you should wrap it in a blue blanket so it will feel loved?!

Our tree is up. The majority of our ornaments have stories behind them with just a few colored balls. I love remembering what each one means.

I love that too. And I make sure we discuss each special ornament as it goes on the tree! It's so much fun remembering.

@Kouponkaren what makes it special is you saying it is and enjoying it. Not when it goes up or down.

Wow, you are my kind of people. I would love Christmas year-round, but I guess that wouldn't make it special.

I wish there was a picture to see your beautiful tree. It's too late this year and my daughters have not put up the tree yet. They are busy with exams. Hopefully they do it this week.

@Kouponkaren If the file size is too big, it doesn't get uploaded. I faced the same in early days. I have figured out a way. I send the photos to ny husband through WhatsApp and ask him to send it back. Whatsapp images get easily uploaded here.

I would love to start a tradition of doing that, but my husband says that is too early. For him maybe, but not for me!

My tree changes every year. Sometimes I have handmade ones and other years I have bought ones. I got rid of those regular balls a long time ago. I do have stuff the kids made growing up that goes on the tree every year.

Aw, those are the best. Lots of fun memories from those handmade ones. We pretty much do the same every year although I am glad he didn't want to put so many balls on this year.
