Shop With A Sheriff Program in North Kansas City a success

I like this idea that Clay County Sheriff Will Akin has with his community in Kansas City Missouri where one family was selected to shop for Christmas presents in a toy store with the deputies who work for Sheriff Akin on Sunday.
One of the members of the program named Matthew Heathmann had his son shop with Sheriff Akin to buy toys for Christmas this year with the limit being $200 dollars thanks to donations from the public to finance the event.
What impresses me of the kindness of Sheriff Akin is that he himself knows what it feels to be homeless and not having many materials to live with when he was younger.
What Sheriff Akin is showing his community is that police officers are human beings that do their best not only to catch criminals and take them to jail.
They also care for the persons in their community by giving back with programs like Shop With A Sheriff during the holidays as their way of showing their communities that we are one of you.

I agree with you since it is one way the police can bridge good relations with their community.

I hope so since when they do a good deed, it seldom makes the news.

My pleasure to share it since I admire Sheriff Akin since he knows what it is to be poor as a child himself.
