I wasn’t a fan of sweet potato or yams - but I’ve recently tried adding cinnamon- just sprinkling it on like you would salt - no sugar needed You don’t have to add any extra calories but the flavour boost is amazing I’ve also discovered a little squirt of olive oil over the entire salad, worked into it with tongs, is all that’s needed - no expensive dressings. Yum! Let’s eat!!

Sweet potatoes make great chips (fries). They are also good in soups and curries. A nice alternative to the common and garden potato.

@Orson_Kart Yes, I really can't complain. We are quite insulated from a lot of the COVID issues, and my work was never impacted. In fact, I think we have fared better overall. Hope you and yours are keeping well too. Interesting side note, I am following a youtuber who sometimes uses a similar nom de plume as you. Only in his case, he spells it Orsen Cart

That’s one way of preparing sweet potato that I could never quite get into - but you’re right- they are very popular here Nice to see you again, BTW

They are also very handy as baby food! One of the very few things my finicky son would eat

I have boiled them from time to time, because baking takes a long time, but I found they were a bit mushy with the extra water. My husband likes things a bit peppery, so maybe I can try that

For me, I just do the olive oil - sparingly- on the salad -it’s one of the best oils.

I'm not a big fan of sweet potatoes. Yeah, I see them called "yams" here too, but they really aren't related, not even that closely flavored. Sweet potatoes are related to morning glories and are Ipomoea batatas. Yams are unrelated. They are Dioscorea and were independently domesticated 3 times, once in Africa, once in Asia and once in the Americas. They are related, but not exactly the same. My wife and the roommate both like(d) them more than I do. However, a little salt was generally enough to make me happy. More than once a month was too often, As for salads, a little lemon, lime or balsamic vinegar works quite nicely for me, even though blue cheese is my favorite salad dressing - in moderation...

Seems yummy, indeed. Will try it one day when I have the ingredients. What I usually do with my sweet potato is to add milk and sugar, or simply butter and honey. This is a perfect dessert or snack. Thanks for sharing.

I got the idea to add cinnamon because I'd tasted sweet potato pie and loved it - but of course pie is very rich - I didn't want to add a lot of extra calories - I tried the cinnamon only, and the natural sweetness and natural creamy texture of the yam worked perfectly.

Yum is right and they are so very good for us. I love them. Though my son has diabetes so the sugar in them might be high at times.

That sounds good, I'll have to try it. And the bonus is that cinnamon is has a variety of beneficial effects!
