Five years

I can't believe how quickly time flies. We've lived in this house five years. We now own the home free and clear. And, we don't have to worry about needing to find a new place to live, because we can't afford the rent. That's finally what did it for my Husband, I think. He'd been happy with apartment living, but I think finally got tired of not really owning it. And, now we can say we own our home. That it's ours.
It's then got me thinking about where we were five years ago. The house was a disorgnized mess, the pod became the dumping ground for what we couldn't fit in any of the other spots, and, my husband may or may not have had to work. We were talking about it, and I think, he had an extra day off. He took an extra day because he wanted to get the hell out of doudge.
I remember he'd been in a hurry to turn in our keys, because he wanted them to turn it around as quickly as possible.
And, now, here I sit, five years later, writing this post.

Yeah. I had a friend who delt with them. Didn't realize it, until something needed fixing and the landloards refused. Claimed they were making stuff up because they were blind.

@kaylachan Oh now, that is very lowdown, but slumlords will try every trick in the book and will stoop to any level so they do not have to part with their money.

@mom210 I got lucky things happened in a way that I could. However, you seem to be teaching your kids good solid values.

@kaylachan That is amazing! If you are fine with it, I am using you as an example for my kids. I teach them about living debt free and possibly paying cash for their houses when they buy them.I also want to add "or you can do like a family on mylot and pay it off in 5 years!" again, amazing job!!!

That is fantastic. I am tired of having a mortgage personally, and hope to downsize soon to a place where I don't have to have a mortgage.

Yep. It'll feel wired being here for year six and so on. We've never lived in a place longer than five years.

I hope for me in five years we have a brand new house. That's not really long time to wait

Me, too. I'm glad that our house can't be taken from us.

Amazing how far we can really go in what seems like such a short amount of time, it takes forever to get to that point, but it is all worth it.

I know what you mean. I remember school assignments back in the day, when I'd be asked 'where do you see yourself in five years.... and so on. Never would I have even thought of being a home owner. Free and clear.
