Oh WOW!

Last night the roommate was in the front room watching a show she recorded, FBI something. On the whole I can pretty much ignore the TV, but this episode... I don't know exactly when it was supposed to be set, but it had 2 or 3 of the regulars in a mall when there is an active shooter event. Actually I believe there were 2 or 3 shooters and it was bad, lots of death... So, I woke up after having a low blood sugar event and brought in the dogs since I believe it had been raining when I fell asleep. I bring the dog in the hall where we 'crate' her, and I've got food. The roommate says: "Did you hear about the active shooter mumble mumble?" "What?" I said. "Did you hear about the active shooter in the Lubbock mall?" she says again. "No!" Now, the roommate's sister's step-daughter has been living in Lubbock going to Texas Tech for the last three and a half years. "First, 'S' is alright," she tells me. Turned out that 'S' was at the mall when it happened. The staff dropped the gate and got all the customers in the back. Okay. Really, really scary considering the show we had just watched last night. On the other hand, if a mall in a small Texas town had plans in place for active shooters, I'm sure this major mall in this major city in the U.S. also has plans. Oh, and I also know that most stores in malls while they have ways to raise and lower their gates with electricity, also have ways to do it manually during power failures... And the mall in the show didn't lose power... And I had a few problems with the show last night, like the FBI and the local police playing nice... What? you thought they do? sorry, the local cops pretty much are of the opinion that the FBI overstep - at least in this case they told the local cops they had off duty people shopping in the mall...

Life immitating art? Did you have a sense of dèja vu or that you stepped into the Twilight Zone? Good to know that 'S' is ok.

I have just read that there was a shooting at the Lubbock Mall and two people were injured. Shootings are becoming more and more common, sad and dangerous.

They were very minor injuries. One got a graze from a bullet and the other was injured fleeing from the mall.
