Happy day after the day after! Or something like that. I’m ending the year with a series of You Tube channels that’ll keep you happy and warm in the winter months. Judging from what the weathermen are saying here — 20 degrees by the end of the weekend after record warmth — these might be getting a serious workout from me (along with the teapot). Here’s today’s go-somewhere-when-you-got-nowhere-to-go video channel.
#6: Jeb Brooks
The Jeb Score! Yeah!
It’s going to really take something to get me on a plane again. Why? Have you seen the news about all these people stranded over the holidays because of Moronic, I mean Omicron and/or the weather? That doesn’t happen with a car.
Having said that, I know that airline travel has changed dramatically since the last time I flew (February 16, 1989, if you’re curious…even if you’re not curious, that was the last time I flew). My old boss flew so much I’m surprised he wasn’t a spokesman for half a dozen airlines!
Jethro Burns once said that “looking at a pretty girl is like going to a train station. You love to hear the whistle even if you ain’t goin’ nowhere.”
So, even though I’m not going anywhere, I do like to watch Jeb Brooks’ reviews of airlines.
And I’m amazed by the changes. American domestic flights haven’t changed all that much, but man have you seen Emirates Airlines?????????!!!!! If you haven’t, let Jeb show you!
He takes you on a tour of the flight and gives it a “Jeb Score,” based on five things: the quality of the lounge (airlines have lounges now?), seat quality/comfort, entertainment system (including WiFi), the food (what, airlines still serve food???), and the service (WHAT, airlines finally have service?
).
Oh, Jeb also reviews ground transportation. He’s done videos on Amtrak and a DC-to-NYC luxury bus called “The Jet,” among others.
Fly away with Jeb and he flies around the world!

Maybe he’s related to the Brooks Brothers clothiers. Or Garth Brooks.
Or maybe You Tube channels pay a whole lot more than I imagined!!!!!

I'll definitely pass on this one. I've been in the air two... or well, actually, three times and wasn't thrilled with any of those. (My friend's dad took me up in a two-seater, single engined plane he'd just purchased when I was 18. [He "tested it" by flying loops and seeing how close to traffic on the highway he could get without touching the rooves of the vehicles.] A helicopter when Pretty was five years old to give us a tour over Branson, Missouri. [The pilot decided to take the doors off since it was a beautiful day and entertain Pretty by seeing how much I'd yell after he found out I'm scared of heights...He kept tipping the copter on it's side and asking Pretty if she wanted to watch daddy fall.] And finally, I skidded off a cliff and fell twenty or so feet into a freezing pond after a bee stung me and I jumped and landed on gravel. [It had taken my friend and I 20 minutes to climb to the top of the cliff. I'd swear she was on the ground screaming was I okay before I hit the water.])

I’ve never had a bad plane experience (commercial plane, I should say….that Navy jump I took from Jacksonville to Norfolk in a prop plane left over from World War I is another story), but I like to get where I’m going. With my luggage. One of my favorite Gallagher jokes is when he went to the airport and told the check-in clerk, “‘I’m going to San Francisco. Send this bag to Denver and this bag to Cleveland.’ She said, ‘We can’t do that!’ I said, ‘Why not? You did it last week!’”
it’s slower, but my car trip isn’t canceled because of covid. And I don’t have to worry about any obnoxious passengers drunk next to me or a kid behind me kicking the seat.

@FourWalls If you've never had a kid behind you kicking the seat or spitting soda pop into the rear speakers, you haven't really been on a road trip...

I'm really afraid to fly now; and I doubt that I'd fit in the seats anyway. lol Thanks for the link.

I don’t want to fly, either, which is why I let him do it for me.
