Ronald Gore who lives in Tabor North Carolina is grateful that after he informed his wife that his cellphone was dying and he could not contact her after he got lost in the woods on Wednesday evening, his wife managed to call 911 and ask the deputies of the Columbus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) for help. The CCSO was contacted by Ronald's wife two hours later after she tried to use her car horn to contact Ron which was not working to get an answer from her husband. Thanks to the use of special equipment by the CCSO deputies, Ron was found inside of a cabin one mile across the South Carolina state line around 1 am safe and sound. The couple were reunited shortly after the CCSO deputies found Ron in good health. Mrs. Gore is grateful that the CCSO deputies were able to find her husband alive and well. The irony is that the Gore home is one mile away from the hunting cabin where Ron was found.

That shows how easily people can become disoriented and lost even close to home.

That is very true due to the darkness in the woods that evening.

@Deepizzaguy I can easily get lost. I once got lost in a park near us. I finally got out but it took awhile.

Sometimes it can be easy to get lost close to home. I'm glad the deputies found him.

You are right since it may have been dark is one reason Ronald got lost in the woods so close to home.

Bless his heart, being lost a mile from home. I can understand as the woods can be dense in places. Great job by the sheriff's department.

Hopefully Ronald will learn his lesson not to travel into the woods with a cellphone that is not working.
