What I Accomplished on New Year's Day

United States
January 1, 2022 5:04pm CST
To start with let me say it doesn't feel like I accomplished much. But when I actually write it down, it's better than I thought: 1) Made scones for breakfast 2) Updated all of my eBay items with new prices 3) Made sandwiches for lunch 4) Stripped the bed and remade it with clean sheets 5) Washed and dried 1 load of wash which included the sheets 6) Spent some time on myLot 7) Took a bath 8) Took the dog for a walk And in a few minutes, I am going in to make pasta and sauce for dinner. Later tonight I will pop back on here and see what everyone is up to on this first day of the new year. Have you accomplished anything important today?

I feel like I spend the majority of my day doing laundry. I did 2 extra large loads in an attempt to get everything done. As a result the dryer was running for part of the morning and the entire afternoon. I also baked a double batch of cookies for my hubby, read a bit, mylotted, and prepared a nice supper.

I managed to walk home from the Hogmany party. If you saw how much I smoked and drank you would agree it was impressive managing to stay upright and move in a forward direction

Due to weather related aches and pains I have had two naps today. I fed hubby well for noon and evening meals. I did write a Textbroker article. I also washed the never ending dishes.

@GardenGerty You write for Textbroker? I used to but then I stopped, and they closed my account. I am still thinking about trying to sign up again. I don't know if they will take me back though. I may give it a try.

@kouponkaren I do like freshly laundered sheets dried on the line outside in the garden beside the rosemary and lavender bushes and close the the pine trees. I also like them starchy and cold. I’m still tidying up after Christmas.

@Kouponkaren There’s a down side to just about everything!

@xFiacre I like the smell of freshly laundered sheets but when they dry outside on the line they can sometimes get bugs on them. That freaks me out a bit.

I did make two pumpkin pies and that was it for the day. It is a holiday, I thought, so I used it up!

@Kouponkaren In my mine I cut the amount of sugar in half. I think it makes the pie taste more 'pumpkinny' and is kinder to the old teeth!

@Ronrybs Mmm, that sounds good. I forgot I was going to make a pumpkin pie over the holidays. I made an apple pie. I still have ingredients to make a pumpkin pie, but now that I am starting this new diet tomorrow, I think I am going to have to save the ingredients and make it after the diet challenge is done.

Laundry and other cleaning projects while the rain fell today.

@CarolDM It seems like a lot of us did laundry today. I guess it's part of the motivation of a new year to get things cleaned up. I am so sick of the rain. We just got an emergency siren on my husband's phone about another tornado watch tonight. Ugh. I think they will go away starting Monday because it is supposed to turn very cold.

@Kouponkaren I do it the same days each week. Cold here today. All safe here from the tornadoes overnight.

@CarolDM My husband does his own laundry and he does it every Saturday, except for holidays. I just do it when I start needing clean clothing!

Important maybe so, I started looking through a stack of magazines I have been storing for many years time to cut out any important things and toss the rest.

@snowy22315128729 I have tried to do that thing about going through magazines and keeping what I want. I have a separate 3 ring binder that I am supposed to tape things into. But I haven't get organized enough to tape things in yet so everything is just thrown in.

You definitely accomplished quite a bit. I spent most of the day just relaxing with the family. We did take down the tree and the Christmas decorations. Otherwise, not much. A good day to relax.

@dodo19 It is a good day to relax. I always get depressed taking down the Christmas decorations. We won't do it until next weekend.

I went to our parish church to start the year with God's blessings. Later in the evening I met the contractor who can build a house for me. That is a definite step towards my goal.

@prasuns I actually just did enjoy it. I made a vegetarian spaghetti sauce for me, and I had some frozen meatballs for him in the freezer, so I added meatballs to my hubby's sauce.

I changed the beds and did the laundry. I made some mince pies. Wrote a couple of emails and spoke to my twin brother. I sorted out my ear rings (which I make as a hobby and now have far more than I need). II made a roast pork dinner and an apple crumble to go with it. I feel asleep in the chair. So no, nothing important at all! I had meant it to be a holiday, a day of rest. But then I changed the beds and the day was no different to usual.

@41CombedaleRoad Wow that doesn't sound like a restful day but you did accomplish a lot, so good for you. I wasn't that motivated yesterday, and today is a gray and rainy day so I once again am not very motivated.

@oahuwriter It's been raining here also. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and it's raining and 60 degrees here now. Now they tell us it may snow overnight?? It will have to get a lot colder than that for snow!
