Gone but not gone - thanks for dinner

Last November, my stepmom told me she was sending me and my sister Omaha steaks. And then at Thanksgiving when we brought dinner, she said she had decided to send us a ham and a turkey instead.
Then she passed away on December 15, and I went to stay with dad for two weeks. I wasn't sure whether the ham and the turkey were going to come or not.
Then Tony called me on Christmas eve. There was a large package. I told him to open it in case it was perishable. Sure enough, it was a ham and a turkey.
I got home from dad's yesterday, and tonight we had a ham dinner in Jane's honor with purple mashed potatoes (the potatoes were from my sister's garden).
We said a little bit in Jane's honor since she is no longer among us and yet she provided us with a nice dinner. Gone but not gone.
Rest in Paradise.

Sorry for your loss. I do agree with that your loved one is still with you in spirit.

My condolences- loved ones always seem to manage to affect our lives even if they are gone
