It is POSITIVE, but think POSITIVELY

A friend of mine messaged me that his younger sister is positive of Covid-19 through the 'rapid antigen test.' He is furious about it and told him to think positively. I suggested to him to calm down and ask people in charge to let all his family be tested. This is the best thing we can do for now. Even if he perceived that his younger sister's result is a false positive and questioned the accuracy of the test. If you were in my shoes, what would be your suggestion? - I know it will take money but he can always take another test if he doubts the result. - tell him that there is no guarantee you can avoid getting covid even with all the measures you practice - yes, everyone should be tested and implement measure to limit the spread of the disease

According to him, his sister will have another test because of the doubt matter. With this situation, it is proven that a person can be a carrier despite being fully vaccinated.

@Shavkat There was a case where a person got tested just before taking the vaccine and the test was negative and he took the test again just after taking the vaccine and it was positive.Do you think the vaccine puts traces of the virus in the body?

@askme123 it is possible - maybe the test detects traces of viral components (which are used to trigger the immune response) found in vaccines though I do not know of recommendations not to get tested after having the vaccine. we both can do a little searching on this...

To get a PCR test done to confirm the result of the rapid test since he is in doubt

Before having all the family tested, ask to perform another Covid-19 test to his younger sister, rapid antigen tests are not reliable.

I agree. I asked him to let her have a swab test or something other than the rapid antigen test.

@Shavkat I can understand why your friend was upset. You made a good suggestion by telling all the family to get tested? That is a very logical thing to do. Maybe they are ok. So what happens to his sister that tested positive? How does she feel?

I heard that she is having a dry cough and her throat is itchy. I think they had scheduled the test within this week.

@Hannihar I hope it is not the virus thing. It can raise a few eyebrows because a fully vaccinated person can still be infected.

@Shavkat Maybe it is something else and not the virus.

He sounds a bit silly if you ask me. Tell him to take a chill pill and stay away from his sister.

The younger sister just visited them during Christmas and New Year's Eve. I also told him not to panic.

I guess it is prudent that everyone that she has contact with should also get tested. I am due to be swabbed this Thursday as part of protocols in our workplace. I already told my father that in case I would also, be found to be positive he should get swabbed too since he was our last contact and my wife and son would also take to be sure. But if my results would be negative then I guess we are safe for now.

I'd just provide emotional support and suggest everyone be tested.

The tester won't go wrong. Tell your friend to get medication while it's not yet so serious.

I asked him if the family has any signs and symptoms. So far, no one has them. They can have the medications if being test positive.

His sister should do a PCR test to confirm first.

This is not the best time to blame. The best thing to do is to have all members of the family to get tested. Quarantine and isolation would be necessary.

I told him not to be like this because it will not help. It is also my suggestion so that they will know what to do next.

Why would he be furious? No one wants to contract the disease willingly. You did a good thing to talk to him

It seems that her sister is having a dry cough and an itchy throat. I assumed that she has the virus. That is the best course of action that I can give to him.

I agree. As a follow-up suggestion, I told him to let her younger sister have a re-test with the swabbing procedure and the same thing with the rest of his family.
