Novak Djokovic is being treated like a dog

The Serb tennis legend has won 9 , yes 9 Australian Opens yet they wont let him into defend his title. He was cleared by the Victorian state legislature to fly to Australia with an agreed Covid vaccine exemption because he claimed he had already had Covid in the last 6 months. When he got there, that was overruled by the Australian Parliament and he is now in an asylum seeker hotel awaiting deportation. He really is in a $50 a night single room. Its become political, both the Serbian PM and the Australian PM facing elections, using this to look tough. There is a big Serbocroat population in Australia and they are not liking whats going on. Aussies tight rules means it was hard to get in and out of Australia during the Delta and Alpha serge and some Australian nationals not even allowed to return to the country. Some important people have been able to dodge the rules and when Novak was allowed in they were not happy. Novak may well be an antivaxer but you cant keep on with this crazy lockdown policy.. Omicron Cases are exploding their now, 73,234 alone yesterday, one of the highest in the world. Its time to cancel their rules and let people back into the country and get tourism going again, including Novak.

Although I am worried for what Djokovic has had to endure, I feel that we all have to accept the rules of each country in this time of pandemia.

@marguicha I fully agree with you on this. He can be a champion, but an arrogant person.

@marguicha Our local newspaper asked the readers to give their opinion... we all agree that he is an ignorant and arrogant man and he had to respect the laws.

Sorry, but he got what he deserves. I won’t let my dear antivaxer nephew come to my house. My rules. He has to respect them.

118,584 cases today in Australia. 75% of ALL their cases since Feb 2020 happened in the last week. Whats the point of the quarantine anymore is my point.

I bet he is being treated better than most. I think its the Australian people that made this happen. I am pretty sure the leaders would have just let him play do to his status and how much money he brings. The people were the ones that shot him down.Saying BS. we have had to endure the longest lock down in all of the world, being Melbourne. This fool gets to come in unvaccinated while we have to go through all these rules. Just because he is number 1 male tennis player in the world and all rich . BS People are getting pissed at two sets of rules everywhere.

That's awful what he is going through. Australia has become a Police State. For a long time it had been on my bucket list of places I would like to visit, but not anymore!

it has come to light that his positive covid test might have been faked to coincide with it helping him to get in - could explain why he wasnt bothered about meeting children when he was supposed to have covid
