How My Health Was Today - January 14th

I planned to share my food/health journey this year....and even though things may have started crazy there is no reason to stop sharing how I am doing. No weigh in; I forgot to weigh in today. I know I have lost a little of what I gained during my hospital stay. Let's go over my food and numbers. Fasting blood sugar: 176 Meal 1 - 4.5 oz salmon and a little ranch Blood sugar after - 163 Meal 2 - Bratwurst with mustard and no sugar added ketchup & a caramel cup fat bomb (sugar free, low carb) Blood sugar after - 85!! Meal 3 - Beef stick, 1 bag of nacho cheese flavored protein puffs (3 carbs) and Quest peanut butter cups (1 net carb for both) Blood sugar after - 113 Macros: Calories - 1,156 Protein -73 Fat - 87 Net carbs - 14 Sugars - 6 So as you can see, my blood sugars were a lot better today. Yes, the first 2 were high but I was so surprised when I saw the 85. I am curious what the number will be in the morning. If I just need one shot of insulin to help but can still do low carb the that would be good. We'll see. Still waiting on a referral to the endocrinologist. Also waiting to hear from the doctor if I need to up the insulin, I told the nurse the blood sugars but she just said she'd give them to the doctor. So, what do you think of my day here? Hoping those lower numbers are not just a fluke.

That's really good news on the BS numbers. I hope the am test is good too. The doctor should get back to you if you need to alter insulin amounts. How long will it take for a referral for crying out loud? I wish they would get back to you. I hope you'll hear something early next week. It looks as if you're doing a little better

Was so glad to see a number under 100...and even the 113 isn't horrible for where I was. If he saw today's numbers he might not need to change it lol I don't even know if he wants to see me again, or me to call with numbers again... I don't even know how the referral thing works to be honest lol

@MommyOfEli2013 If the numbers start creeping back up or spike, another call to the doctor would be prudent. If they stay around this level, you're doing ok. Call your insurance provider and have them explain the procedure for a referral. It might be online at the providers site under FAQ's. Then nudge the physician into making the referral asap.

@Vikingswest1 That is way too much stress and anxiety for me. All the calling and stuff. I can't deal with that. I am just going to crawl under the covers and hide.

Oh wow, I am sorry that you had a number that high today....That's strange if you are not used to that. I woke up at 93. Ate some carbs though and went over 200.

If I eat mostly carnivore it seems to work. I woke up under 100 today though. However, tried to have some carbs and that failed.

Yes they are, that is where they need to be. I even woke up under 100. However, chose some carbs today and the numbers went up I will post about seeing the specialist whenever that happens.
