River Street - once you get down the crazy "historic" stairs - has a little boardwalk where you can watch the giant cargo ships come and go, go to some souvineer shops, eating/drinking places. Probably many nice cocktail places but none of which I went to. Lots of History in Historic Savannah..Every couple blocks they have these beautiful small parks or "squares", some are only a city block long if even, but some are much larger (like Fosyth Park), some with statues of prominent characters in Savannah's history, some with fountains. I learned that Savannah has 22 squares, only a handful of which I was able to see. Calhoun Square, Chatham Square, Johnson Square, Madison Square, Ogelthorpe Square, Wright Square, etc. Each of the squares have beautiful plants and trees, and some history attached to them. For example, Wright Square, that has an impressive monument in it, is where in the 1700's, public executions took place (as well as public gatherings, auctions, etc). I learned some very cool things while I was in Savannah, got to see many things. While in the historic Savannah, I did a "ghost tour" on a trolley, which was a little cheesy and probably wouldn't do again, but I also did a 2 hour walking history tour which I thought was really cool and interesting. We walked around from square to square and learned about some of their colonial history and see some interesting landmarks. The historic downtown also has some historic houses that have turned into museums, I went to the Davenport house, and they also have a few others that I did not make it to. They also have some other museums that I didn't make it to, like the history of Savannah museum and the American Prohibition museum...If I had more time I would have went to more. I probably won't return any time soon, but it was beautiful and I am glad I was able to visit there for a short time. I was really happy I was able to visit. Now I have no more trips planned for the foreseeable future...Time to save up money and work hard. Have you visited Savannah, Georgia? Do you have any trips planned any time soon?

I've been to Savannah many times, and it is one of my favorite places. I loved the history and charm associated with the city. I will be in Savannah next weekend for a bachelorette party. Yes, a bachelorette party. My ex-gf--whom I've remained very close with over the years, is getting married, and she wanted to do a co-ed bachelorette party. So yay me, I get to hang around a bunch of girls! haha

@maezee I'm about 3 hours away. My favorite thing is the ghost tours! lol. Seriously, I love the history of the place, along with all the beautiful buildings and public squares.

:::sigh::: Tybee Island!!! Those moss-covered trees on the street providing the canopy!!! I got my FCC broadcast license there (this was back in the day when you had to take a test to get it). So Savannah will always have a special place in my heart. I’m not into the “haunted” aspect, and I’ve never read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, so I don’t go in for any of that aspect. I just love the beauty of the town.

Oh wow! What would you need a FCC broadcast license for? Is that for something similar to Ham radio? Or to be a radio DJ? Just curious now! I am into the history for sure…and the aesthetics. These historic homes are so beautiful. I am just barely into the haunted aspect, I did a ghost walking tour in New Orleans and I was really fascinated by some of the stories there. This ghost tour here in Savannah didn’t really have the same impact on me, even though I believe there’s some bad juju considering the horrors of the slave trade etc that happened here. But the Savannah “ghost” stories I heard I wasn’t real impressed with, and it was just kind of cheesy/touristy. Where are you traveling to next? I always look forward to your adventure posts. I am taking a couple month break.

@maezee — when I was 17 I wanted to be a DJ, so I figured the first step would be to get the license. Then I had a DJ in Daytona Beach explain the reality of radio. He told me, “You love music too much to work in radio. Radio isn’t about music.” Broke my heart, but he was correct.

I’ve never been to Georgia. I love the brick sidewalks in your photos. I think what I would enjoy if I visited there would be the statues.

What country are you from? Georgia is within my own country (United States), but I’ve only left my country a couple times. Do you ever take trips around your country?
