I Am Going to Fire My Oncologist!

I am excited to announce that I am going to fire my oncologist. I have a referral to another one which I have heard good things about. He is not an expert in my kind of cancer(which I no longer have) but he treats cancers of all kinds.
But you know what? That's fine with me. The one I have now that IS an expert in my kind of cancer is awful. She argues with me and can't remember details about my case unless I remind her. She has the paperwork right in front of her so you would think she could glance at her before she comes into the room, wouldn't you think?
I imagine in my head a scene where I can be like Donald Trump on the show "The Apprentice" and say to her, "You're Fired!" That would be so much fun. And so empowering!
Have you ever fired a doctor you weren't happy with?

@Kouponkaren Sometimes there is a personality difference which makes it difficult for both. Anyway, good luck with the next.

No I have not. You have every right to fire her. The best kind of doctor is one who not only is highly knowledgeable about their cases but also having a good bedside manner towards patients is a must.

@kouponkaren one of my doctors was clearly embarrassed at discussing or examining anything below the waist. He was a nightmare and just made an awkward situation a hundred times worse.

@Kouponkaren No, we just decided to have no problems below the waist! I went to him once about a lump on my ribs and just sai “I’ve found a lump I’d like you to look at” without saying where. He became very awkward in his manner and talked for a long time about these things were often nothing but it was important to check them out, and I’d done the right thing coming to see him. This went on a while, and he said that he knew it wasn’t easy to go see the doctor, especially when there’s something wrong in the groin area. Then I pulled my shirt up and point to my ribs and said “Peter, it’s up here; will you have a look at it?” He looked so relieved that he wasn’t having to go down any lower.

@xFiacre Oh geez, that's not a good quality for a doctor to have. Did you switch doctors?

@CarolDM I haven't done it unless I moved so this is the first time I am actively saying "enough is enough!"
