Did you know about Blue Monday? Apparently it's the most depressing day of the year, the 3rd Monday in January. I didn't know anything about it until a friend mentioned it a week ago. According to this article at the National Today it's because most of the Northern Hemisphere is/has been dealing with frigid weather for awhile now, getting a chance to look at the bills accrued from the holiday season and perhaps the realization that New Year's Resolutions aren't going as well as planned. It would seem that most of those have an easy fix. Don't make resolutions or if you do, don't make them difficult. Even though it's fun to buy gifts, look for ways to cut back. Home made gifts for those who appreciate them. Maybe you need to tell some people that you would rather exchange cards. There is no shame in it and anyone who makes you feel that way, well... isn't acting too nice. The weather, we can't change, but just know spring is on the way! Here is a song from when I was 14! Wow that was a minute ago. I didn't know this was the video to it. "Blue" - Eiffle 65 Other song suggestions that would work for "Blue Monday" - "Manic Monday" - Dolly Parton "Monday, Monday", - "Mamas and Papas" "Blue Morning, Blue Day" - Foreigner and... just because I want to be happy and who cares if it's supposed to the most depressing day "Walking on Sunshine" - Katerina and the Waves

I can understand why it might be called 'Blue Monday'. You're right about cutting back on Christmas present costs. We've never been into really expensive gifts, thank goodness.

@FayeHazel They just stress everyone out. And it's not the real 'reason for the season'.

That is the smartest way to be, I think big expensive gifts actually detract from the season

I have heard this several times over the years and think I must be a bit of a mutant! Never felt particularly depressed or stressed, maybe I am just worrying about more trivial things
