In the early 1950s, Gottlieb arranged for the CIA to pay the sum of $240,000 to buy up the world's supply of LSD. It was spread to hospitals, prisons, and other institutions with foundations that were bogus and merely so he could see how the LSD affected people and how it could be used in mind control. The subjects told their friends and so, unwittingly, Gottlieb started the 60's generational rebellion.
