For Once He Got it Right

My husband finds gift-giving very challenging, bless his heart. Over the years I have received CDs of his favourite music. Boxes of his favourite treat. Tech items that he wanted. The list could go on. He’s been trying harder in recent years. For Christmas this past year he bought me a coffee mug with an insert that would allow me to make one mug of coffee at a time. Not a bad gift, all in all, except that I work at home and if I want some coffee I’ll just make a french press full and enjoy a big mug-full instead of the half-full mug that his gift produces. However, the gift has one feature that beats out every other mug I own. It has a wooden handle. (I don’t even think my husband noticed that the handle is made of wood). We heat our home with wood and I am in the habit of setting my coffee mug down on top of the heater. It keeps the mug from getting cold, and will quickly turn a luke-warm mug-full into a pleasantly hot dring. Unfortunately, all the other mugs in the house, with their ceramic handles are a burn risk. I cannot begin to count the number of times I have grabbed a mug off the heater and ended up with burned fingers. This lovely little mug doesn’t have that problem. The handle gets warm, but never so hot that it burns. He got it right this time!

I’m sure it was by accident that he got it right. That is a cool looking mug!!!!

It was entirely an accident, but I love it, and appreciate it, anyhow!

I noticed the wood handle as soon as I looked at the picture. Its unique and obviously practical. I am glad that you got a gift from him for you, sometimes it takes our wonderful hubbies a while to get it just perfect.

I love being able to set it on the heater without having to worry about burned fingers. I tried to use it to make myself a mug of brewed cacao but the water wouldn't flow through. I haven't tried it with real coffee.

I think only once I got a gift that was more for my husband than for me. That wooden handle is very nifty. Good for him, even if he didn't particularly mean to do it.

My husband has never grasped the reality that not everybody has the same likes and dislikes that he has.
