A lovely day trip

Yesterday was almost like spring here...warm in the 60's and sunny. Dale and I took a day trip to Elizabeth City, NC (if you're from here, it's not the most exciting adventure, lol), but we can make an adventure out of most anything.
We stopped on the way for a take out breakfast (sausage dog with mustard and a Pepsi...so good!) We like to browse around in thrift stores, I found a few cute tops, then we rode to Frog Island for lunch. They've recently renovated and it's quite nice.
But I can't believe I ordered fried shrimp instead of catfish. But it was yummy anyway and they have really tasty french fries and hushpuppies.
On the way back, we stopped and bought some raw shrimp, so we peeled and deveined them today. They're in the freezer, so I plan to fry some soon.
We got home late that afternoon. It was fun and not so tiring like when we try to go too many places and get worn out. It's the getting old thing, I'm afraid.

It's my old girls 15th Birthday today. She is a Schipperke Terrier and has some health issues. Her time is short. The last few weeks have been hard at times but we have done everything possible to make things easier for her.
But today I am throwing a Birthday party for her. She gets to eat ribeye steak, asparagus (raw) biscuits with PB and honey and bacon wrapped sprouts.
I have never had a dog reach 15, so this day is extra special.

Why thank you, Carol. That was nice of you to send BDay wishes for Poppy.
I was only 45 when we got her as a pup. She was a rescue that we were only going to watch until her broken leg healed.
After a few days, we had already decided to keep her.
It IS a special day.

Oh that sounds like a perfect way to spend a nice day together.
My hubby went to work this morning, as did I.
Shortly after I started work I got a text from our son that he was at the dealership with his truck, which was making a strange sound and he was asking if I was home. The dealership send him over here in an uber. He literally was here from 9:30 until they picked him up just before 5pm. It was nice to come out of the office and spend my breaks with him, but such a waste of a day for him.
His babies are doing better each and every day, they are gaining weight and there is talk of Willow being discharged early next week, with Harper following a few days later.

@1creekgirl Thanks, we're so excited that they are doing so well.
Our daughter-in-law is feeling much better, it will be a week tomorrow, so I know it takes that long at least to get over that kind of a birth. She is a great mother, just a natural, and he is a wonderful dad. Its amazing to see them in their new roles.
