Jimmy Buffett LIED!!!

There’s something about Jimmy Buffett music and Florida. It’s almost a prerequisite that you have to listen to some while in Florida. Today I had some Buffett on and this line popped up: Travis McGee’s still in Cedar Key That’s what old John MacDonald said Since I was close I decided to go pay Travis McGee a visit. Buffett LIED!!!! Travis McGee wasn’t there!!!! (For those who don’t know, Travis McGee was the lead character in several books by John MacDonald.) Oh, well, live and learn. At least I got to Cedar Key. And yes, it’s still cloudy. But it was a lovely walk along the Gulf shore, watching people fish on the pier, enjoying the signs of the places along the main drag (like the Tipsy Cow, or a bar with a chalk sign that said, “It’s so hard to be a drunk teenager when you’re in your 40s” ). The nice thing is that the fishing pier, the boat ramp, and the parking at the waterfront are all free. That is a rarity along the seashore! It was a nice day for a walk, despite the cloudy and cool conditions. I had a great time, watching the gulls and the people and having a couple of dogs run over to me (dragging their owners on the leash) for some love and belly rubs. Now, next time I see Buffett I’m gonna give him a piece of my mind about lying about McGee still hanging around!!! PHOTO COLLAGE: 1. Cedar Key City Park sign 2.
