And what makes this even more interesting, the Canadian women wore N95 masks for the game because the Russian women players keep testing positive for COVID. The Russians wore masks for only the first two periods of this game. They took them off in the 3rd period because they were losing and thought they'd play better without them. Today, the Finnish Women's Team masked up and won 5-0. The Fins masked up because a Russian player who played Monday tested positive after the game. The Russians did not mask up for this game. Yet, back in Canada, big bad truckers aren't tough enough to wear masks, as noted in this quote, "So let me get this straight: The Canadian women's hockey team wore N95 masks while easily beating Russia 6-1 at the Olympics...but some people are so inconvenienced by having to wear a mask that they're holding the city of Ottawa under siege & claiming it's all about "freedom?" — Dr. Amit Arya (@AmitAryaMD) February 7, 2022 If athletes at the Olympic level can play and win while wearing N95 masks, even against unmasked opponents at the same level, why can't others wear a mask when in public places to protect themselves and others?

What difference would it make to the game if they were wearing a mask or not?

They would get much more easily winded. Those N95 masks are heavy.

@FourWalls Ah. I've never seen a N95 mask so I wouldn't know. The masks we wear are flimsy fabric ones.

The complaint of the anti-maskers is that the masks are uncomfortable and make it hard to breathe. I've been wearing a mask at work every day since we started back in-person full-time in August of 2020 as have all my colleagues, and we breathe just fine. The Canadian and Finnish Women's Teams have proven that wearing the mask doesn't inhibit performance. They both trounced the Russians, who played all or part of the games unmasked.

I’ve been watching that stuff in Canada and wondering if Tr*mp was going to run for prime minister up there or something. Congratulations to the Canadian women’s hockey team!!!

That is a good way to put it. Having those masks on had to be hard

I know it must have been. I've been wearing one every day at work since we went back to in-person teaching in August of 2020. Mine are double-layered cloth masks with a pocket for a filter insert. I have to get used to wearing them all over again after a break of more than a few days home.

Call me old-fashioned, but I always like to see the Russians lose.

Good question. It looks like masking gets positive results on the scoreboard and positive results for COVID for those who don't. It seems like the choice is simple. Winners mask.

Everyone should still be wearing masks until the virus is gone.

I wear a N95 mask when I go grocery shopping and I can breath very well and move very well. It's all about political movements to protest about masks.
