It's Just Not the Same

There are two family vehicles parked in my driveway. Our “Yacht” (the name of choice for our cushy, Luxury Edition 2011 Toyota Sienna) that we acquired last year is usually tucked under a vehicle cover. My Nissan Altima decided that it needed to spend some time in the shop so I had to use the Yacht to pick up groceries. I regularly shop at a store that requires a quarter to use a shopping cart. When I return the cart to the cart-corral I retrieve my quarter. The quarter then gets returned to the cupholder in my car until the next time I need it. The Yacht rarely goes to the grocery store, but I keep a quarter in the cup holder so that I am prepared. At least I thought I did. Apparently, someone thought that replacing the quarter with two dimes and nickel was fair and they even threw in a penny as a bonus.

Haha. Just when you think you have the bases covered, you find you don't!

Fortunately, I did not actually need a cart on that particular trip. I had forgotten a couple of items. I did text a photo of the contents of the cup holder to the likely perpetrator.

That wasn't very nice was it? I have some quarters in my car too for the very same reason, but there are some stores which require a loonie or a toonie, so there are some of those in the car also. One nice aspect is that during covid, they have not been charging for the carts, not all of the stores anyways.

We went for several months where they did not charge for carts, which was nice. I don't have loonies or toonies in the yacht, but I do have some in my car. No one ever seems to bother those.

The heart was in the right place, even if the head was up the butt. Did Aldi give you a quarter for the two dimes and a nickel, or tell you "tough cookies"?

Fortunately, it was a quick run to pick up a couple of things that I should have grabbed the day before and I didn't need a cart. My quarters have gone missing before, this is the first time anyone has left me change!

I only bought a few items on that trip, so it's all good.

The same person who has removed my quarters in the past.

That’s terrible. Sometimes I misplace my quarter when going to Aldi and have to get empty boxes from the store.

I have gone a few times and had to scramble to come up with a quarter. That's why I try to always keep one in each vehicle. In the past, I always used cash for groceries so it was never an issue, I always had change that is one of the things that Covid has changed.

Yeah, that's not going to work. Only quarters do (for whatever reason), I hope you found a spare somewhere.

I only needed a couple of items so having cart was not essential. I do need to hide a few spares, though. In case it happens again.

Not having the right coin for the cart/trolley is a real nuisance. I've got one of those substitute tokens so I never find I've accidentally spent the coin I need.
