Out of curiosity, do any of you do Tai Chi? If so, what does it do for you personally? Yes, I do want to lose weight. But I have found online that Tai Chi really does not do much with weightloss. Should I perform Tai Chi anyway? There are a few YouTube videos that seem really nice. Thanks! photo by Pixabay

It improves balance, muscle strength, flexibility, and overall health. I used to do it outdoors. Too cold now.

Do you play music personally when performing Tai Chi?

@DianneN There is a girl on YouTube (I cannot think of her name right now) that makes it seem so easy. I wish I could lose weight with Tai Chi!

I've never tried Tai Chi (I'm mostly into yoga), you're right, for weight loss is not optimal (cardio and strength training for an increase in muscle mass are best for fat loss), but you could benefit in other ways by doing tai chi. I do yoga and meditation for balance, flexibility, proper posture, relaxation, anti-anxiety, and because I find it fun. Just the last reason alone is more than enough to explore tai chi and see how you like it.

@healerWitch After doing yoga for once, I hopped into the shower and almost fell asleep in the shower. I could have fallen and gotten hurt.

@Spontaneo I'm sorry to hear that. What kind of experience if you don't mind me asking? Tai Chi is usually a lighter form of exercise, with low risks of injury.

I only ever tried it once. I don't think it does much for weight loss.

I have no idea. I’ve read it’s good for your health but I’ve never practiced it.

I want to learn Tai chi. Combined with a good diet it may work
