It's Tuesday, so of course we're watching The Great British Bake-off.

We watch the show on Netflix, so the episode we are watching is from a prior year. Tonight we are watching the final of the 2021 season. The three bakers in the final are all excellent. I don't have a favorite as I think all three deserve to win. The showstopper theme for this final is The Mad Hatters Tea Party. I cannot even begin to imagine myself attempting something like this. My sole claim to baking fame is my Toll House cookies. One of the downsides of watching is that the missus and I both begin craving fresh-baked treats. What is your favorite baked confection?

It’s the thing about watching cooking shows, you crave for something to eat afterwards. That’s what happens whenever I watch Korean mukhang videos on YouTube. My stomach would growl like crazy

I spent 2 years in Korea in my twenties and learned to love a lot of the cuisine. When I came home, there were no restaurants in my area serving Korean dishes. Only in the last few years have I been able to renew my enjoyment of Korean food with 2 restaurants having opened close by.

@DWDavis Korean restaurants are booming like crazy in my little city. That’s partly because Netflix Philippines airs a lot of Korean movies/tv series so people here are generally curious about samgyupsal and Jajangmyeon ramen and soju and more. Were you an English teacher in Korea before?

I know what you mean. Too many food shows can make you hungry. I have many favorite confections. Fudge, brownies, cheesecake, etc.

I do love a good cheesecake. Son 2 has perfected his method of making cheesecake and I've never found any better.

Is that the same as the Great British Baking Show? I watch that on NF as well. I find it soothing and relaxing. I think I will need to watch some more of it soon, as The Joy Luck Club which I have been watching on IMBD is really a heavy movie..excellent, but hard to watch in parts.

We watch those bake off shows all the time. They make baking some stuff look so easy.

I'm always amazed at the flavors they incorporate into their bakes. They use things I'd never dream of.

I never watched that show. I’m not much of a sweet eater, but will eat New York cheesecake, my birthday cake, and fruit tarts.

If you like NY Cheesecake, you'd like my son's cheesecake.

I had to stop watching the Great British Bakeoff. I like sweets entirely more than is good for me and I enjoy baking. Not a good combination since I tend to over-indulge in whatever I am making.

We've never tried to recreate any of the bakes the contestants on the show make. I wouldn't even know where to begin on most of them.

@SophiaMorros It happens to us, too. Fortunately, we watch it late in the evening when there isn't enough time to start making cookies.

@DWDavis I would even begin to attempt any of the bakes on the show, but I do like a good batch of cookies or other sweets...and watching that show makes me want to bake and eat!
